Kavango-West is one of the 14 regions of Namibia . It was created when the Kavango region was divided on August 9, 2013. The region is named after the Kavango ethnic group living here . The regional capital is Nkurenkuru .

Sirkka Ausiku has been the first female governor of the new region since April 26, 2014 .

politics

In the first regional council elections in 2015 in the region, SWAPO emerged as the clear winner. The party won all six seats on the regional council.

The Kavango-West region is divided into eight constituencies .

  3. Mpungu
  4. Musese
  5. Ncamagoro
  6. Ncuncuni
  7. Nkurenkuru
  8. Tondoro (formerly Kahenge )

There is also (as of December 2015) a local administration in the region, Nkurenkuru .
