Carl-Bosch-Gymnasium

The Carl-Bosch-Gymnasium is a high school in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in Rhineland-Palatinate. It is located right in the city center near the Rathaus-Center . The Ludwigshafen Rhein-Galerie can also be reached in a very short time. It is connected to the Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr (RNV) by buses and trams . Internally it is mostly just called "CBG".

history

In 1886 the "Royal Bavarian Realschule" was founded. It is the second oldest grammar school in Ludwigshafen. Before the First World War it became an upper secondary school and was initially called the Königliche Oberrealschule Ludwigshafen am Rhein and later only Oberrealschule Ludwigshafen. It was then named in 1965 after the Nobel laureate in chemistry, Carl Bosch . Together with another school, the CBG was the first grammar school in the state to be involved in a project to promote the gifted as a school experiment from 1985 to 1996, which other grammar schools then took over. The all-day school model has existed since the 2006/2007 school year.

The grammar school has been offering all-day schooling with lunch in the school's own canteen since 2006 . Projects lasting two hours take place on Wednesday afternoons. The grammar school also organizes school trips for grades 5, 7, 10 and 12.

Focus of the school

The grammar school has two main focuses:

  • the musical focus: the pupils should acquire skills by learning to play a wind or string instrument. Instruments can be borrowed from the school up to sixth grade. Every year the “Summer Night Concerts” take place, in which the students can demonstrate their skills in an orchestra. These concerts have been a highlight of the school year for many years and now have almost 8,000 spectators.
  • the natural science focus: In the orientation level, the natural science subjects biology, chemistry and physics are taught in one subject NaWi . In the middle school, a physics internship is offered in grade 7, a biology internship in grade 8 and a chemistry internship in grade 9. In grade 10, a mathematics and computer science internship is offered.

A two-week internship is offered in year 10 .

particularities

The grammar school offers bilingual classes in English. It also offers French and Latin as a second foreign language (elective). As one of the few high schools in Rhineland-Palatinate, it also offers the opportunity to learn Russian as a foreign language. The third foreign language is voluntary. You can then choose either Latin, French or Russian.

Awards

The grammar school was awarded a MINT- friendly school on September 25, 2012 in Mainz . In addition, in autumn 2013 it was awarded the "School without Racism, School with Courage" award.

architectural art

The gym of the CBG has been shaded since 1965 by the work of the “Falling Prometheus” by the Landau artist Michael Croissant .

Further information

The CBG is the partner school of Explore Science in Mannheim's Luisenpark and has been involved in the exhibition there since 2011. In addition, the grammar school cooperates with the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences as part of the scientific internship . Contacts with BASF are maintained, which means that regular visits to the various school laboratories take place. Here, students in the orientation, middle and upper grades in the subjects of biology and chemistry can experiment on specific topics for a whole morning or afternoon.
