Carl August Rojahn

Carl August Rojahn (born September 23, 1889 in Duisburg , † March 17, 1938 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German chemist and professor of pharmaceutical chemistry and food chemistry .

Life

Carl August Rojahn studied chemistry from 1911 to 1916 at the University of Marburg , the Technical University of Braunschweig and the University of Rostock . In Braunschweig he became a member of the Corps Hercynia in the winter semester of 1912/13 . In 1916 he was awarded a doctorate by the University of Rostock. phil., the then customary doctoral degree for natural scientists. He then worked in Braunschweig as an assistant to Heinrich Beckurts and was appointed private lecturer there in 1923 after his habilitation. In 1926 he became an associate professor at the University of Freiburg . Just one year later he was appointed full professor for pharmaceutical chemistry and food chemistry at the University of Halle . In 1938, shortly before his death, he was offered a position at the University of Breslau .

In addition to numerous preparative work, Rojahn mainly worked in the field of analysis in pharmaceutical chemistry.
