Carl Bauer (entrepreneur)

Carl Bauer (born October 2, 1868 in Biebrich am Rhein , † after 1935) was a German entrepreneur . He was general director and full board member of Vogtländische Maschinenfabrik Aktiengesellschaft (VOMAG) in Plauen in Vogtland , which mainly manufactured trucks.

After attending secondary school , Carl Bauer began an apprenticeship as a banker. He later became a co-founder and board member of Unionwerke Aktiengesellschaft for brewery facilities in Mannheim . In 1914, Carl Bauer was appointed as the successor to director Robert Zahn, who died in 1914, as a full member of the board of the Vogtländische Maschinenfabrik (formerly JC & H. Dietrich) Aktiengesellschaft in Plauen, of which he became general director. He was also a board member of the Reich Association of the German Automobile Industry in Berlin . Carl Bauer was also a member of the Vogtland Flight Association. V. in the German Aviation Association. He was also a member of the supervisory board of Niederlausitzer Automobil-Aktiengesellschaft.

Under his directorate, VOMAG developed into an important German arms company. Carl Bauer experienced the impending bankruptcy in the Great Depression and the new upswing that took place under his leadership after the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists.

On his 60th birthday on October 2, 1928, the Reichsverband der Automobilindustrie gave him an elegant vase in a perfect amphora shape, which was auctioned in 2017.
