Carl Camenisch
Carl Camenisch (born April 23, 1874 in Chur ; † 1956 ) was a Swiss Reformed pastor and historian .
Life
Carl Camenisch was born in Chur on April 23, 1874. He attended the Bündner canton school there and graduated from high school in 1893 . From 1894 he studied at the University of Heidelberg theology .
On July 27, 1897, Camenisch was accepted into the Evangelical-Rhaetian Synod in Susch . This was connected with the authorization to work as a pastor in the canton of Graubünden . In 1898 he became a Protestant pastor in Maladers for one year , and in 1899 he began to study history.
In 1901 he became a doctor of philosophy . In 1902 he was appointed professor at the canton school in Chur, where he taught until 1927. He then took on a position as a teacher at the secondary school in Basel. Between 1927 and 1932 Camenisch was director of the Swiss school in Naples . In 1932 he retired. Camenisch died in 1956; the exact circumstances of his death are unknown. The ETH library in Zurich has an extensive collection of his journalistic publications and studies.
