Carl Christian Pohland (* September 1769 in Neustadt an der Orla ; † September 7, 1847 in Dresden ) was a lawyer and from 1814 to 1823 mayor of the Saxon residence city of Dresden.

From August 26, 1783 to March 11, 1789, Pohland attended the Pforta State School , a good 50 kilometers north of his parents' house. He then completed a law degree. In 1797 he is listed in a Dresden address book as a lawyer.

Pohland belonged to the council of the city of Dresden from 1799 at the latest. In 1814 he took over the administration as mayor. According to the council order of 1470, which was still partly in force, there was always one ruling and two dormant councilors at that time. The same rhythm applied to the three elected mayors. So they always changed in the order of governing - associate - resting mayors. Pohland remained in the council until 1823 and was the ruling mayor of the council.

In addition to his role as mayor, Pohland was the city judge of Dresden-Neustadt , administrator of the Maternihospital , inspector of the council building authority, deputy to the Meissen district tax collection, the tax and credit office of Leipzig and the pawnshop.

Pohland died on September 7, 1847 of the consequences of paralysis .

The Pohland street in Dresden's Striesen is named after Carl Christian Pohland since 1,893th The better-known Pohlandplatz, on the other hand, bears its name in honor of the Dresden donor Auguste Elisabeth von Pohland .
