Carl Deninger

Carl Friedrich Reinhard Den (n) inger (born November 11, 1800 in Idstein , † September 16, 1859 in Ostend or Amsterdam ) was a Hessian leather manufacturer and a member of the 1st Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Carl Deninger was the son of the saffiano manufacturer Franz Xaver Deninger (1772–1849) and his wife Wilhelmine Louise nee Michel (1783–1850) from Idstein. He married Katharina Dahm (1809–1861) in Mainz in 1824, the daughter of the trader Carl Valentin Dahm (1777–1851) and Margeth Aloisia nee Schmitt (1784–1852). His son Carl-Franz Deninger (1827–1895) was also a member of the Hessian state parliament.

education and profession

Carl Deninger received private lessons in Idstein. After his father's company Michel and Deninger was relocated to Mainz in 1811, he received private lessons there. In 1818 he joined his father's company and became a partner in 1827. In 1834 the company merged with the leather factory Hochgesand and Mayer to become Mayer, Michel and Deninger. He was the source of ideas for a first industrial exhibition in Darmstadt in 1838. He was co-founder and three times president of the Mainz Trade Association. In 1842 he was director of the First German Industrial Exhibition in Mainz.

politics

From 1842 to 1848 Carl Deninger was a member of the municipal council in Mainz, from 1851 to 1856 he was appointed by the Grand Duke as a member of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse.
