Carl Eduard Niese senior

Carl Eduard Niese (born October 21, 1804 in Torgau , † October 14, 1882 in Bahrendorf near Magdeburg ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

He was a son of the lawyer and notary Carl Gottfried Niese (1771-1814) and Schulze, born by Juliane (⚭ 1802). Since 1808 Niese was raised by the Trebnitz - Pretzsch pastor ET Spitzner. From 1818 he attended the Lyceum in Wittenberg , from where he moved to Erfurt in 1820 . In 1823 Niese began studying law in Leipzig , which he broke off in 1826. then he took up a degree in theology, which he finished in 1831 with the first exam in Leipzig and in 1832 the second exam in Magdeburg . In that year he started his first job as 3rd deacon in Torgau. In the same year Niese married Auguste Juliane Panse from Hesseroda ; several children were born in this. In 1839 Niese was appointed professor and spiritual inspector at Schulpforte , where he stayed until 1865. Then he took over a pastor's position in Bahrendorf; in this position he died before he retired.

Niese produced several publications. In addition, he wrote many articles on church history for the "messenger of the Gustav-Adolfs-Frauenverein from Thuringia".
