Carl Ernst Bernhard Jutz , also Carl Jutz the Younger (born March 14, 1873 in Düsseldorf ; † September 17, 1915 near Radun (Belarus) on the Eastern Front in Russia ), was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Jutz was born as the son of the animal painter Carl Jutz the Elder and his wife Sybilla Karolina, b. Adloff, the daughter of the landscape painter Carl Adloff , was born in Düsseldorf. There he grew up in a house in whose garden poultry were kept for his father's animal painting . He began studying painting at the Grand Ducal Baden Art School in Karlsruhe under Gustav Schönleber and continued at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he was a master student of Eugen Dücker . Jutz went on extensive study trips, including to Transylvania , whose motifs he captured in watercolor and oil. Many of his pictures show landscapes of the Eifel . He was regularly represented at international, national and Düsseldorf art exhibitions. He served as the second chairman of the Düsseldorf association for the organization of art exhibitions . He also belonged to the Association of Düsseldorf Artists for Mutual Support and Help . Together with Hans Deiker , Theodor Groll , Emil Schultz-Riga and others, Jutz founded the November Group in Düsseldorf in 1904 . Like his father, Jutz was also a member of the Malkasten artists' association . A photo from 1910 shows Jutz with an easel in front of a winter backdrop. Jutz was married to Elisabeth Krummel (1878-1917), with whom he had two sons and a daughter.

Jutz's landscape painting is based on the romantic tradition of the Düsseldorf School and developed into broad, late Impressionist painting with lightened, brightly shining colors. Atmospheric landscapes characterize his later work. Isolated images of animals can also be found in his work.
