Carl Friedrich Evers

Carl Friedrich Evers (born June 10, 1729 in Schwerin ; † April 14, 1803 ibid) was a German lawyer , archivist and numismatist in the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin .

life and work

Evers was born as the son of Johann Wilhelm Evers and Margarethe Elisabeth Siemerling. After completing his studies, he was initially a lawyer , but began in 1754 as a secretary in the Schwerin Secret and Main Archives. Four years later he was appointed archivist, in 1767 secret archivist with promotion to court councilor and 19 years later to secret archives councilor. Evers founded the modern state main archive in Schwerin . In part-time he was in charge of the ducal coin collection . In this context he wrote the basic work of the Mecklenburg Mint Constitution (1798/99).
