Carl Gottfried Winckler , from 1781 von Winkler (sometimes also Karl Gottlieb Winkler ) (* May 22, 1722 in Leipzig ; † April 19, 1790 ibid) was an Electoral Saxon lawyer , professor at the University of Leipzig and in 1776 and 1779 mayor of the city of Leipzig .

Career

Von Winckler attended the Thomas School in Leipzig and studied law at the University of Leipzig. In 1745 he became Doctor iuris utriusque . He then worked as a lawyer in Leipzig.

In 1759 he was elected to the City Council of Leipzig. In 1771 he was appointed city judge, in 1774 he was appointed architect and in 1760 and 1775 as Scabinus. Winckler was Leipzig's mayor in 1776 and 1779.

In addition to his local political activities, von Winkler was assessor and later professor at the law faculty of the University of Leipzig from 1762 . In 1763 he was appointed to the electoral court and judicial councilor, and in 1772 to the appellate council . In 1781 he resigned as a full professor at the law faculty and was rector of the alma mater in the winter semester of 1783 .

From 1776 he was also head of the Nikolaikirche in Leipzig and the Nikolaischule .

The title of nobility was Georg Winckler and his descendants as early as 1650 by Emperor Ferdinand III. been awarded. Von Winckler had it renewed by Emperor Joseph II on April 8, 1781 .
