The arms manufacturer Saab Dynamics is a division of the Saabgroup based in Karlskoga , Sweden . The company specializes in the development and production of guided missiles and portable anti-tank handguns .

As part of international cooperation , the former Saab Bofors Dynamics was involved in Taurus Systems GmbH and SN Technologies SA .

history

Bofors

In 2000, Saab acquired Celsius AB and with it its subsidiary Bofors . The heavy weapons division (cannons, etc.) was sold to United Defense Industries in Arlington , Virginia in September 2000 . As a result, only the guided missile business remained with Saab and is now run under the name Saab Dynamics .

Carl Gustafs stads gevärsfaktori

The rifle factory Carl Gustafs stads gevärsffektori was bought by the state in 1812 and produced from 1813 to 1969 on the factory stalk in Carl Gustafs stad , which was merged with Eskilstuna in 1833. In 1943 the company was taken over by the state-owned Försvarets Fabriksverk (FFV). The factory in Eskilstuna became internationally known for the production of submachine guns ( Carl Gustaf M / 45 ) and bazookas . The FFV came to Saab in 2000 via Celsius AB. Saab Dynamics stopped production in Eskilstuna in 2012 and moved it to Karlskoga.

The city (subsequently the rifle factory) was named after King Karl X. Gustav in 1659 .
