After Kreischer learned of the intended establishment of the Zwickau mountain school , the mine candidate applied for the teaching position on January 6, 1862, while he was still on his practical course. In his letter, Kreischer stated that he wanted to continue the teaching profession he had already practiced and that the academic study time was aimed at teaching the technical subjects. From several applicants, Kreischer was appointed first main teacher by the Bergschulcomité and at the same time he was given the management of the Bergschule with an annual fixed remuneration of 600 thalers, which began teaching in October 1862.

Kreischer held the functions for more than nine years, and in 1871 he accepted a call to the Bergakademie. As the successor to the retired professor Moritz Ferdinand Gätzschmann , Kreischer took over the chair for mining and mineral processing. At the same time, he was appointed librarian at the Bergakademie's library . In 1880 Bergrat Kreischer was appointed to the newly created firedamp commission. In 1891 Kreischer fell seriously ill and died.

In addition to the translation of specialist publications on the investigation of accidents in mining from the English published Kreischer also about his experiments, carried out jointly with Clemens Winkler , on the effectiveness of safety lamps when firedamp occurs .

He was a bearer of the Albrechts Order, 1st class.
