Carl Heinrich Krauch

Carl Heinrich Krauch (born September 14, 1931 in Heidelberg ; † August 15, 2004 in Namibia ) was a German chemist and industry manager.

Life

Carl Heinrich Krauch is the son of Carl Krauch and grandchildren of senior Carl Krauch . He studied chemistry, did his doctorate with Günther Otto Schenck and submitted his dissertation on October 18, 1961 to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Göttingen with the title New Acceptor Systems for Photosensitized O 2 Transfer . In this he examined sulfides, sulfoxides, alcoholates and enediolates of the ascorbic acid type as new acceptors.

From 1958 to 1967 he was a group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr and held a teaching position at the University of Cologne . He completed his habilitation at the University of Mainz and accepted a professorship there in 1971.

Carl Heinrich Krauch then continued his career at BASF and as head of research and development in the management of Henkel KGaA in industry. From 1980 to 1993 he was CEO of Chemische Werke Hüls AG and member of the board of VEBA AG , Düsseldorf.

His older brother was the systems analyst and concept artist Helmut Krauch .

Carl Heinrich Krauch lived for the last 13 years of his life together with his partner Renate von Katte in Namibia. He had taken over a farm there in Okondura South near Karibib for his old age after he had bequeathed the farm in the Odenwald, which his father had inherited, to his eldest son. At the age of 72, Krauch died in a traffic accident in Namibia.
