Carl Heinz Brieskorn

Carl Heinz Brieskorn (born November 10, 1913 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † June 22, 2000 ) was a German pharmacist and food chemist.

Life

Carl Heinz Brieskorn studied pharmacy and food chemistry at the University of Königsberg and LMU Munich . In 1941 he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In 1944 he completed his habilitation at the University of Strasbourg . From 1945 to 1947 he worked at the State Chemical Research Institute in Munich.

Brieskorn taught from 1948 to 1951 as a private lecturer at the LMU Munich. From 1952 to 1955 he held the professorship for galenic pharmacy at the University of Istanbul , and he was also the head of the department for pharmaceutical technology.

In 1955 he became an adjunct professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1958 he succeeded Harry Auterhoff and was an adjunct professor with Walter Hückel at the Pharmaceutical-Chemical Institute of the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .

In 1959 he was appointed professor of pharmacy and food chemistry at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg , of which he was dean. On April 1, 1982 he was retired; his successor in Würzburg was Siegfried Ebel .

Carl Heinz Brieskorn was President of the Würzburg Pharmaceutical Society (1960–1962; 1971–1973) and the Würzburg Chemical Society. He was a member of the St. Albertus Magnus Pharmacists' Guild, the Association of Catholic Pharmacists, the American Chemical Society , the German Pharmaceutical Society and the German Society for Medicinal Plant Research.

Act

The main teaching and research areas were phytonutrients, triterpenes , sterols and oleoresins . In addition, he dealt with ethical questions and problems of modern natural sciences as well as with botanical-pharmaceutical-historical topics.

Carl Heinz Brieskorn was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . In 1975, he was the Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Furstenberg Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem appointed and food through December 6, 1975 Franz Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy, the Order invested . Most recently he was a Grand Officer of the Papal Laity Order. In 1976 he was one of the founders of the Würzburg Commandery of the Knightly Order.
