Carl Hessmert
Carl Hessmert (born March 31, 1869 in Fürstenberg ; † February 16, 1928 in Berlin ) was a German landscape painter.
Life
Carl Hessmert was born in Fürstenberg (Oder), now a part of Eisenhüttenstadt , in 1869 . He studied from 1892 to 1899 at the Berlin Art Academy under Eugen Bracht and around 1900 he was in Bracht's master class for landscape painting alongside Louis Lejeune and Eugen Reich-Münsterberg until he accepted a professorship at the Dresden Art Academy in 1901. From 1896 he was regularly represented with his works at the great Berlin art exhibitions and the exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace . His main motifs were landscapes executed in impressionist painting style, many of them in his home region Niederlausitz , in the Mark Brandenburg or on the Pomeranian Baltic coast.
