Life

Jörns initially drove bike races, in which the Opel brothers, who at first only manufactured bicycles in addition to sewing machines, were his competitors. He won his first bike race in 1893. After Opel had also been producing cars since the end of the 19th century, the technology enthusiast Carl Jörns was employed by Opel as a driving instructor and driver from 1902.

In January 1907 Carl Jörns achieved third place in a modified 34/65 hp Opel at the Kaiserpreis race in Taunus after a tough battle with the eventual winner Felice Nazzaro in a Fiat , which gave Opel the title of imperial court supplier for automobiles as the manufacturer of the best-placed German vehicle brought in.

In 1925 Jörns celebrated two victories at Rund um die Solitude in Stuttgart . Finally, Jörns ended his career in 1926 with victory in a category at the Hercules race , which he won in 1924 as the fastest overall. In his entire career he had won 288 races.

Retired in 1945, Jörns died on July 19, 1969 at the age of 94 in the Rüsselsheim City Hospital. He was married to Katharina Jörns, geb. Lankau.
