Carl Johan Fahlcrantz
Carl Johan Fahlcrantz (born November 29, 1774 in Stora Tuna near Falun , Sweden , † January 1, 1861 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish painter and representative of romantic landscape painting .
Life
Fahlcrantz was the son of a pastor; he had seven siblings, two of whom, the sculptor Axel Magnus Fahlcrantz and the poet Christian Erik Fahlcrantz , also became very famous.
From 1792 to 1802 he studied at the Kungliga Konsthögskolan Stockholm in Stockholm. In 1803 he became a teacher of the academy there on the recommendation of the sculptor and draftsman Johan Tobias Sergel .

Fahlcrantz was best known as a landscape painter. In Germany he became known for his depictions from Esaias Tegnérs Frithiofs saga (1820), which are lithographed on a smaller scale and added to the translation by the Scandinavian Gottlieb Mohnike .
