Carl Oswald Rostosky
Carl Oswald Rostosky (born June 20, 1839 in Leipzig , † June 21, 1868 in Munich ) was a German animal painter , wood cutter and illustrator.
Rostosky learned the profession of wood cutter in Leipzig. After moving to Munich he also dealt with animal painting, probably as an autodidact or private student, as he was not entered in the register books of the Munich Academy . He exhibited his first oil painting "Die Mäusejagd" in 1862 at the Munich Art Association .
His main job was as an illustrator, his works appeared in “ Über Land und Meer ”, in “ Daheim ”, in the “ Gartenlaube ”, in the “ Fliegende Blätter ” and in the “ Münchener Bilderbogen ”. He also illustrated books.
He died of typhus at the age of 29.
