Carl Otto Deuster (also Carl Otto II. Deuster , incorrectly Otto Karl Deuster ; * November 21, 1800 ; † February 20, 1877 ) was a Lower Franconian landowner and between 1859 and 1861 a member of the state parliament in the Chamber of Deputies in the Bavarian State Assembly.

Life

Carl Otto Deuster was born on November 21, 1800. He was the son of Johann Reichard Deuster (1763-1812), who had come to some wealth as a wine merchant in Kitzingen am Main . The mother's name was Eva Barbara, née Hartmann, and was the daughter of the Schwanenwirt in town. The Deuster family had moved with their grandfather Carl Otto I. Deuster (1723–1799) from Kirn in the Palatinate to Franconia and were able to quickly advance within the wine trading town.

Nothing is known about the young Carl Otto's school days. In 1821, at the insistence of his mother, he was granted citizenship in Kitzingen and was subsequently able to train in the father's wine shop, which had been run by his wife since the death of Johann Reichard Deuster in 1812. Carl Otto soon took over the wine trade, but in the course of his life he was also referred to as a merchant and banker . It is certain that Deuster came to great wealth.

His wedding to Justine Hornschuch, whom he married in 1825, also contributed to this. Hornschuch came from a long-established Kitzingen wine merchant family and brought some property into the marriage. In 1840/41, shortly after the death of his father-in-law, Deuster acquired the Ditterswind manor near Maroldsweisach . It remained the only estate that the family owned for longer. In addition, Deuster worked as a real estate speculator and in this role sold the canon mill near Iphofen in 1870 .

Although the family had their headquarters at Kitzinger Luitpoldstrasse 12, Deuster was sent to the Bavarian Estates Assembly in 1859 as a member of the Haßfurt electoral district . This is due to the fact that the Ditterswind estate is located in the Haßberge. Nothing is known precisely about the wine merchant's political views. He may have held more conservative views that were later shared by his sons and grandchildren. Carl Otto Deuster died on February 20, 1877.

Marriage and offspring

In 1825, Carl Otto Deuster married Justine Hornschuch (1806–1882), who, as the daughter of a wine merchant, brought a large fortune into the marriage. The connection resulted in nine children, but only six of them reached adulthood. In particular, the second oldest son, Carl Oskar, tried to enlarge the family property. In 1887 he succeeded in ennobling the family and being promoted to the chamber of hereditary imperial councils .
