Carl Peter Eckhardt

Carl Peter Eckhardt , first name also in the spelling Karl (born September 26, 1808 in Hanau , † 1897 in Düsseldorf ), was a German portrait and genre painter of the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Eckhardt enrolled in history painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1829 . He also took private lessons with the Munich portrait painter Joseph Anton Muxel (1786–1842). From 1844 to 1847 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he attended the painting class of Theodor Hildebrandt , was absent in the 1st quarter of 1845 and left the academy in the 4th quarter of 1847. Eckhardt settled in Düsseldorf, where he belonged to the artists' association Malkasten .

His portrait of a girl , created in 1831, was acquired by the artist's heirs in 1950 and is part of the holdings of the Museum Kunstpalast . His Girl with Flower and Dove, painted in 1832, is in the collection of the Alte Pinakothek .

A family relationship with the painter Gottfried Eckhardt , presumably a fatherhood, is obvious.
