Carl Pohle (lawyer)

Carl Ludwig Friedrich Pohle (also Karl Ludwig Friedrich Pohle ; born June 12, 1817 in Wittstock / Dosse ; † December 27, 1883 in Schwerin ) was a German lawyer and politician.

Life

Carl Pohle studied law at the University of Bonn. In 1839 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Bonn . In 1840 he moved to the University of Rostock . In 1843 he passed the exam. He became a senator for the city of Schwerin. In 1848 he was elected a member of the pre-parliament and the Mecklenburg parliamentary assembly in the constituency of Mecklenburg-Schwerin 6: Wittenförden . Here he joined the faction of the Reform Party, the Left , and was active in the Judicial Committee until he resigned on August 21, 1849. In the same year he wrote a memorandum on reforming the Mecklenburg Criminal Procedure Code. From 1866 to 1883 he was mayor of Schwerin and held the title of mayor.

His political criticism was the provincial estates Mecklenburg Constitution, the country's Constitutional hereditary settlement of 1755, based on the principle of special interests, especially the landed gentry based (the knights), without the common good to be considered. In his political struggle for a more liberal Mecklenburg state constitution, he was one of August Moeller's companions .

A plan presented by him to the Assembly of Representatives for a further union between Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Strelitz , which gave the Strelitz Grand Duke a position that was not noticeably different from that of a mediatized prince , increased the tension between the two parts of the country and contributed to the departure of Mecklenburg-Strelitz from the constitutional process.
