Karl Samuel Schneider (born September 22, 1801 in Bielitz ; † July 25, 1882 there ) was superintendent of the Protestant Church in Moravia and Silesia and a German liberal politician from Bielitz, now Bielsko-Biała .

He was a son of Johan Dawid Schneider and Eleonora Zipser. In the years 1813-1817 he attended the Protestant middle school in Teschen , 1817-1821 the Lyceum in Pressburg and in the years 1825-1828 theological studies in Vienna .

In 1824 he became vicar of the German-speaking parish in Bielitz, from 1832 pastor, from 1858 senior for Silesia . In 1864, after the death of Johann Georg Lumnitzer , Schneider was appointed superintendent of the Protestant parishes of Moravia and Silesia .

In 1848 he was elected as a representative of the Bielitz electoral district in the Austrian Reichstag and to the Austrian House of Representatives (in the third curia) of the 1st legislative period (1861-1865) , IInd legislative period (1867-1870) and III. Legislative period (1870–1871) . He was one of the most important local representatives of German liberalism (see German Liberal Party ). In the years 1861-1870 he was a member of the Silesian Landtag . He was a co-founder of the German Protestant seminary in Bielitz. After his death, the position of superintendent and the political legacy were largely taken over by Theodor Haase .

He rests in the old Protestant cemetery in Bielsko-Biała .
