Carl Schenck (politician)

Johann Jacob Ludwig Carl Schenck (also Karl ; also Schenk ) (born May 14, 1805 in Dillenburg ; † May 7, 1868 there ) was a Nassau lawyer and politician .

Carl Schenck studied law and became court procurator at the court in Dillenburg .

In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament . After the March Revolution he was elected on April 14th by the electors in the 1st Nassau constituency in Rennerod as a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly. Of the 637 votes cast, he received 486 (76%) and thus sat down against Dr. Theodor Heydenreich, medical advisor from Herborn (71 votes, 11%), Karl Keim, dean from Hachenburg (70 votes, 11%), Freiherr Friedrich von Breidbach-Bürresheim and head stable master from Heddernheim (10 votes, 2%). In the National Assembly he remained non-attached . But he belonged to the Central March Association .

Shortly afterwards, on May 1st, he was elected by the electors to the Nassau Estates Assembly. In the assembly of the estates he became president of parliament , but gave up this office in the same year in favor of Carl Wirth . In a by-election, Adolph Raht was elected in his place in the assembly of states.

After the victory of the reaction in 1852, he was elected to the second chamber of the estates of the Duchy of Nassau, but did not accept the mandate.
