Carl Theodor Schmidt

Carl Theodor Schmidt (born October 3, 1817 in Stargard ; † January 21, 1887 in Berlin ) was a German educator and politician.

Life

Schmidt attended high school in Stargard. He studied Protestant theology and philology at the Friedrichs-Universität Halle and at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin . From 1837 he was a member of the Corps Borussia Halle . He became a senior teacher at the Friedrich Wilhelm School in Stettin and wrote, among other things, a history of trade and shipping in Stettin. He was also the editor of Baltic Studies , the organ of the Society for Pomeranian History and Archeology .

In 1861 he was nominated for the Pomeranian constituency Greifenhagen - Randow in the Prussian House of Representatives voted, from 1867 to 1887 for the constituency Administrative district Stettin 4 (Prague Stettin ). From 1871 to 1878 he was also a member of the German Reichstag for Stettin City. In 1874 he resigned from the German Progressive Party and has been non-attached ever since.
