Carl Vrints von Treuenfeld

biography
A branch of the Vrints family came from Spain and came to the Spanish Netherlands in the 16th century . Carl Vrints von Treuenfeld was a descendant of Johann Gerhard Vrints von Treuenfeld (1611–1685), the first postmaster of the Imperial Post Office in Bremen. His father was the postmaster Theobald Max Heinrich Vrints von Treuenfeld (1734-1812). Carl graduated from the old grammar school in Bremen . In 1799 he took over the imperial post office from his father. He lost his post during the French period in Bremen . In 1813 he was given back the post of the former Reichspost, which had meanwhile been taken over by the House of Thurn and Taxis . However, he lived and worked mainly in Frankfurt am Main as Thurn und Taxissch Oberpostmeister and lived there until 1829 in Neue Mainzer Strasse 49/51 (later the Städelsches Kunstinstitut , then the Frankfurter Sparkasse from 1822 , then the Kunstgewerbemuseum ). In 1838 he resigned his office in Bremen as postmaster and a commoner became the head post office administrator.
