Carla Gravina

Carla Gravina (born August 5, 1941 in Gemona del Friuli ) is an Italian actress and politician .

Life

Gravina made her cinema debut at the age of 16 with a role in Guendalina and soon also (in the entertainment show Il musichiere ) on television. She played a wide range of roles, from comedies like Thieves Have a Difficulty ( I soliti ignoti ) to costume films like the very successful television series Scaramouche and Madame Bovary to dramas like Un colpo da pistola and modern plays like Giorgio Strehler's Baruffe chiozzotte . Other notable roles were the partisan in Jovanka e gli altri , a Jew in Tutti a casa and one possessed by the devil in the horror film L'anticristo .

From October 23, 1980 to July 11, 1983 Gravina was a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies as a member of the PCI . After that, she concentrated almost exclusively on her theater career, which she had followed since 1960 - one of her first roles was that of Shakespeare's Julia - and was rarely seen on film and television. She has not been artistically active since 1994.

Gravina was awarded the Vela d'argento at the Locarno Film Festival in 1958 , in Cannes in 1980 for Best Supporting Role and in 1993 for Best Actress at the Montreal World Film Festival for Time of Wrath .

With Gian Maria Volonté she has a daughter, Giovanna.
