Carlo Cudicini (born September 6, 1973 in Milan ) is a former Italian football player on the position of goalkeeper .

Career

Cudicini began his career in the youth of AC Milan , then moved to AC Prato . From there he came via the stations Lazio Rome and ASD Castel di Sangro for the 1999/2000 season for a transfer fee of around 240,000 euros to the English club Chelsea , who was then coached by Cudicini's compatriot Gianluca Vialli . After one season he became a regular goalkeeper. Since the transfer from Petr Čech to Chelsea in 2004, Cudicini has only been a substitute goalkeeper for the London club.

In November 2002 Carlo Cudicini was part of the squad of the Italian national team for the international match against Turkey , but was not used.

On October 14, 2006, Cudicini was substituted on in the game against Reading FC for Petr Čech, as this broke his skull in a collision with an opponent and was carried unconscious from the field. However, Cudicini was also carried unconscious from the pitch in stoppage time after a clash with Ibrahima Sonko . John Terry (actually central defender) stepped in for him as goalkeeper.

In January 2009 Carlo Cudicini moved to Tottenham Hotspur , for whom he made his league debut on January 27, 2009 in a 3-1 win over Stoke City . On November 12, 2009, he suffered multiple fractures when his motorcycle was struck by a car.

On January 1, 2013, Cudicini moved to LA Galaxy .

His father Fabio Cudicini was also a football goalkeeper.
