Carlos Iturralde Rivero (born June 7, 1926 in Mérida , Yucatán , † August 1, 2004 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican football player on the position of a striker . He is considered the best football player in the history of the Yucatán Peninsula .
Life
childhood
After his father, a former governor of the state of Yucatán, left his homeland and lived temporarily in Europe, the young Carlos came to the "old world" for the first time with football - which is in the shadow of baseball on the Yucatán peninsula and by no means is as popular as in central Mexico - in touch.
Player career
When the family returned to Mexico , they settled in the capital, where Carlos began his footballing career and was awarded a professional contract for the 1945/46 season with Club Asturias , which two years earlier had led the professional football championship of Mexico , which was held for the first time that season of the Austrian coach Ernst Pauler had won.
When Asturias retired from professional football at the end of the 1949/50 season and left the league, Iturralde moved to Club Deportivo Guadalajara , but returned to Mexico City after only one season and signed with Club Necaxa , where he was under contract until 1955 stood, but was also loaned to the neighboring club America for one season . Then he was still under contract with his actual favorite club Atlante , where he let his active career end.
Missed World Cup participation
Iturralde, who had never played a game for the Mexican national team , was supposed to be part of the Mexican squad at the 1950 World Cup ; but a serious knee injury ruined this possibility.
Activity as a trainer

Activity as an author
Iturralde also had an affinity for writing. He published a book called Amistad entre patadas and wrote a weekly column for a regional newspaper for an extended period of time .
