Carlos Jiménez Sánchez (born February 10, 1976 in Madrid , Madrid region ) is a former Spanish basketball player. Due to his defensive skills and leadership qualities, he was a regular in the national team for a long time .
Career
society
After playing for San Viator Madrid in his youth, Jiménez began his career in the ACB league with Estudiantes Madrid in 1994 . He stayed there until 2006 and won the Spanish Cup with the club in 2000 . Further successes were reaching the finals in the Korać Cup in 1999 and the Spanish runner-up in 2004. During this time, Jiménez was elected all-star in the ACB four times . In 2006 he moved to Unicaja Málaga . After five years with the Andalusians, Carlos Jiménez returned to Estudiantes, where he ended his career in 2011/12.
National team
From 1997 to 2008 Jiménez was active for the Spanish national team . He took part in three world championships and three Olympic games as well as five European championships. He celebrated his greatest successes late when he won the 2006 World Cup and reached the finals at the 2008 Olympic Games , when he was also the team's captain. Together with his three silver medals at European championships ( 1999 , 2003 , 2007 ) and winning the bronze medal at the 2001 European championships , he was the most successful Spanish basketball player in terms of medals at the end of his career in the national team.
