Dieter Görlitz (born February 25, 1937 in Oberquell, today Gaworzyce / Poland ) was a member of the Bavarian state parliament for the CSU from 1974 to 1983 and Lord Mayor of Deggendorf from 1983 to 2000 .

Life

Career

After an apprenticeship at the post office, Görlitz became head of the pension office. In 1960 Görlitz joined the CSU and was elected to Deggendorf City Council in 1966 . In 1974 he was elected for the CSU in the Bavarian State Parliament, which he was a member of until his election as Lord Mayor of Deggendorf in 1983. In 2000 Görlitz resigned from office for health reasons, Anna Eder (also CSU) succeeded him as Lord Mayor.

As Lord Mayor

Central topics as Lord Mayor were, among other things, the establishment and expansion of the University of Applied Sciences in Deggendorf , the relocation of the federal road 11 with 2 tunnels and enclosures, the creation of the free port in the Deggenau district and the construction of an underground car park and four parking garages. The creation of the cultural quarter, the citizens' festival, the Christmas market on the town square and the Danube Forest exhibition also took place at this time.

The Dieter-Görlitz-Preis and the Dieter-Görlitz-Platz in Deggendorf were named after him.
