Carlos Krause

Carlos Krause (* 1936 in Hamburg ) is a German opera singer (baritone).

Life

After graduating from secondary school, Krause began training as a ship broker. After singing in the main choir of the Hamburg State Opera as a student, he was engaged as a choir player at this house in 1956. In the 1962/1963 season he went to Kaiserslautern as a bass player . From 1965 to 1967 he was a member of the Landestheater Detmold . In 1967 he moved to Mainz . In 1975 he came to the Frankfurt Opera , where he sang the Saretzki in Eugen Onegin , the Kruschina in The Bartered Bride , the Geronte in Manon Lescaut and the Pistola in Falstaff . In 1993 he was appointed chamber singer . In 2001 he left the ensemble of the Frankfurt Opera.

In 2006 he celebrated his 50th stage anniversary. In these 50 years he sang about 400 parts in over 5000 performances.

Since 1990 he has been running the Bad Orb Opera Academy, which has meanwhile gained nationwide attention, as artistic director and spiritus rector , on a voluntary basis, particularly because of its qualified promotion of young talent . In 2013 he staged the opera Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck in Bad Orb .

In 2005 he was made an honorary citizen of the spa town of Bad Orb . He is the recipient of the culture award of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis .
