Carlos Luthar (* around 1952/1953) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Luthar, who already belonged to the Montevidean club Peñarol in 1971 , was also in the squad of the first division team there in the two following years. With the Aurinegros he won the Copa Principe Juan de España and the Copa Atlántico Sur in 1972 . He was also Uruguayan champion in 1973 with Peñarol. Also in the Copa Libertadores 1973 he came in the encounter against Nacional as a substitute for Alfredo Lamas for the course. In 1976 he played for Everton and celebrated winning the national championship with the Chilean club. In 1977 he moved to the Uruguayan club Danubio, which was coached by Luis Cubilla at that time . There he came for the Montevideans in the Copa Libertadores 1978 when they first participated in the club's history in this competition a total of six times. At least in 1979 he was then active for Peñarol's main competitor Nacional . There, too, he was used internationally and played from the start in the Clásico on March 7, 1979 as part of the Copa Libertadores 1979 .
National team
Luthar was a member of the Uruguayan junior national team , which took part in the 1971 South American Junior Championship in Paraguay and took second place. During the tournament he was used by coach Rodolfo Zamora five times (no goal).
In 1976, Luthar was used as part of the qualifying games for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Recife , also in the Uruguayan selection trained by Walter Brienza (ex-player from Nacional, Rampla Juniors and Bella Vista). Uruguay finished second behind Brazil in this qualification. However, since, contrary to the regulations of the IOC , which prohibited the participation of professional players, first division players were set up, the National Olympic Committee (COU) and the Uruguayan football association Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (AUF) decided to avoid a sanction on the Olympic Games dispense.
