Carlos Martins Pereira

Carlos Martins Pereira (* 1937 in Lisbon , Portugal ; † February 13, 2013 in Miraflores near Lisbon) was a Portuguese painter , writer , illustrator and translator .

Live and act

In Lisbon, he studied law and philosophy at the university there before working regularly in the advertising industry since 1975.

He was known as a painter since 1960 and between 1960 and 1991 - only with the interruption of the revolutionary year 1974 - he had regular exhibitions all over Portugal, for example in Estoril , Vila Nova de Cerveira and Lisbon.

His style was mainly described as neo-figurative and influenced by music.

He dedicated a few exhibitions to two of his role models, the Chilean politician Salvador Allende and the painter Hieronymus Bosch .

He worked as a book illustrator for other artists and as a translator of Isabel Allende's books into Portuguese. He was buried on the Cemeterio de Camarate.
