Carme Riera Guilera (born January 12, 1948 in Palma ), internationally known as Carme Riera, is a professor of Spanish literature and a Catalan writer. She first drew attention to herself in 1975 with the publication of the volume of short stories Te deix, amor, la mar com a penyora ; this book became a bestseller in the Catalan-speaking regions.

biography

Riera was born in Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands , in 1948 . She spent childhood and youth in her native city and moved to Barcelona in 1965 to study Spanish Philology at the Autònoma University. She graduated in 1970 and became a lecturer, then a full professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona .

Awards

In 1980 Riera received the Premi Prudenci Bertrana novel prize for the work Una primavera per a Domenico Guarini ; 1989 the Premi Ramon Llull for the novel Joc de Miralls ; In 1994 the Premi Josep Pla , Premi Lletra d'Or , Premi Joan Crexells and the Premio Nacional de Narrativa for the book Dins el darrer blau ; In 2001 she received the Premi Nacional de Literatura of the Catalan government for El cel obert ; 2003 the Premi Sant Jordi for the novel La meitat de l'ànima . In 2005 she was honored for her complete work by the Catalan writers' association Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana , and she was also awarded the Gold Medal by the Consell de Mallorca . In 2015 she received the Premio Nacional de las Letras Españolas .
