Carmen Valero
Carmen Valero ( María Carmen Valero Omedes ; born October 4, 1955 in Castelserás , Province of Teruel ) is a former Spanish medium and long-distance runner who had her greatest successes in cross-country skiing .
Life
Between 1972 and 1978 she was the Spanish champion in the 1500 meter run seven times in a row , she also won three national titles over 800 meters (1974-1976), four over 3000 meters (1974-1976, 1978), one over 5000 meters ( 1986) and eight in cross-country running (1973–1978, 1982, 1987). In 1973 and 1977 she became the Spanish 1500 meter indoor champion. Her Spanish records over 800, 1500 and 3000 meters lasted well into the 1980s.
After winning bronze at the 1975 World Cross Country Championships , she won gold in 1976 and 1977. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , she was the first athlete ever to be sent from Spain, but was eliminated in both the 800 and 1500 meters in the run.
