Carola Vogel

Carola Vogel (* 1966 in Groß-Gerau ) is a German Egyptologist .

Vogel studied Egyptology, Classical Archeology and Prehistory and Early History at the Universities of Mainz and Heidelberg and in 1997 when Rolf Gundlach at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz with the Egyptology Dissertation Egyptian forts and garrisons until the end of the Middle Kingdom to Dr. phil. PhD. In 2000 she received the Werner Hahlweg Prize for Military History and Defense Sciences (3rd prize) for her work .

She took part in excavations / field campaign (s) in Germany and Egypt ( Thebes-West ). In 1998 she became a lecturer at the Institute for Egyptology in Mainz and worked for the von Zabern magazine, Antike Welt , from 1998 to 2000 . Since 2000 she has been working for the Harrassowitz academic bookstore in Wiesbaden. Vogel published several works on Egyptian military and social history, articles appeared a. a. in the Journal of Egyptian Archeology and in Studies on Ancient Egyptian Culture .

She is also a founding member of the Egyptian Military History Working Group.
