Carolina Pihelgas (born February 24, 1986 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian poet and translator .

Life

Carolina Pihelgas graduated from high school in Tallinn and studied at the University of Tartu Theology, where they face a thesis on the use of the 2012 Lord's Prayer in the Estonian folk belief the master's degree earned.

Literary work

Pihelgas made his debut in 2006 and has since published three more volumes of poetry. Critics saw parallels to Debora Vaarandi in the nature orientation of her poems , while similarities with Jaan Kaplinski were found in the proximity to prose . The author consciously sees herself in the tradition of Estonian poetry, for example when she uses quotations from Ene Mihkelson or the title of her third collection of poems is based on the headline of a volume of poetry by Marie Under : The happiness eclipse of the classic from the interwar period is now juxtaposed with rigid happiness .

Pihelgas translated among others Pablo Neruda , Tor Ulven , Miranda July and Konstantinos Kavafis . She also translated various Osho books from English together with Hasso Krull .
