Carsten Wilke (* 1960 in Gießen ) is a German forester .

Since 2002 he has headed the Forests and Nature Conservation Department in the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and has been President of the German Forestry Association since 2009 .

Life

Carsten Wilke, who was born in Giessen, completed his studies in forest sciences at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and completed his legal clerkship in the Hessian Forest Administration, in whose service he was then taken on.

In the Ministry for the Environment and Energy or Environment, Agriculture and Forests in Wiesbaden , Wilke headed the Hesse State Hunting Authority as a hunting advisor from January 1995 to July 2000 and in 1998 also took on responsibility for personnel, organization, properties and construction work in the forestry department. On August 1, 2000, he was finally given the management of the Herborn Forestry Office .

Since June 1, 2002 Carsten Wilke manages the rank of Ministerialdirigenten the Forestry and Nature Conservation Department of the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Change, Agriculture and Consumer Protection . In succession to Wolfgang Dertz, he is not only head of forestry for the state of Hesse, but also the highest specialist in nature conservation in Hesse.

Carsten Wilke is also involved in various specialist committees and associations for forest and nature conservation. He is the chairman of the “Natura 2000 Foundation” of the State of Hesse, which supports the fulfillment of the European Union's Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive through contractual nature conservation with private and communal forest owners . He is also a member of the foundation board of the Hessian Nature Conservation Foundation and is a board member of the Competence Center HessenRohstoffe Witzenhausen (HeRo) eV

In addition to these offices in Hesse, Carsten Wilke works at the federal level as chairman of the federal / state forest working group and in the federal / state working group for nature conservation, landscape maintenance and recreation (LANA).

In 2009 he replaced Anton Hammer as President of the German Forestry Association (DFV) and is a member of the Presidium of the German Forestry Council (DFWR) . He is also the spokesman for the “Platform Forest & Wood (PFH)”, which was jointly founded by the German forestry and wood industry in 2007.

Carsten Wilke is married and has three children.
