The Cascade River is a tributary of Lake Superior in the US state of Minnesota .

The Cascade River has its origin in Cascade Lake , about 20 km northwest of Grand Marais . It initially flows a short distance east, but then turns south. It finally flows into the Upper Lake between the towns of Grand Marais and Lutsen . The lower reaches of the river is in Cascade River State Park . The Cascade River has a length of 17 miles.
