Casey van Schagen (born February 18, 1980 in Blackstock , Ontario , Canada ) is a former Dutch - Canadian ice hockey player who played most of his career with the Tilburg Trappers in the Dutch Honorary Division and since 2013 assistant coach of the Port Perry MoJacks in Central Ontario Junior Hockey League is.

Career

Clubs

Casey van Schagen, who grew up in Canada as the son of parents of Dutch origin, began his career as an ice hockey player with the Weyburn Red Wings , with whom he won the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in 2001. He then played for the Missouri River Otters in the United Hockey League . In 2003 he moved to the homeland of his ancestors and played for the next eight years with the Tilburg Trappers in the Dutch honor division . With the team from the province of North Brabant , he won the Dutch championship in 2007 and 2008 as well as the national cup competition in 2006, 2008 and 2011 . After winning the third cup, he moved to the Eindhoven Kemphanen , where he let his career end.

International

With the Dutch national team , van Schagen took part in the Division I World Championships in 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 . He also represented the Netherlands at the qualifying tournament for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .

Trainer

After his active career, van Schagen returned to Canada and started a coaching career there. He has been the assistant coach of the Port Perry MoJacks in the Central Ontario Junior Hockey League since 2013 .
