Caspar Heinrich von Mellenthin

Caspar Heinrich von Mellenthin (born December 22, 1717 in Woltersdorf , † April 20, 1781 in Niepölzig ) was a Prussian district administrator in Western Pomerania . From 1755 he headed the Saatzig district .

Life

origin

He came from the noble Mellenthin family . His father Caspar Wilke von Mellenthin (* 1672; † 1737) was the heir to Woltersdorf. His mother Eva was born von Wussow .

Career

Caspar Heinrich von Mellenthin served for 18 years in the Prussian army , he from the character of a major eliminated. He then lived on his inherited estate Woltersdorf. After the father's death, the estate was initially given to the widow and the children together, but in 1743, by court decision, it was awarded to Caspar Heinrich von Mellenthin as the eldest son alone.

In 1755 Mellenthin was elected as the successor to the late Albrecht Friedrich von Broecker as district administrator of the Saatzig district. The noble family Wedel , influential in Pomerania , turned against the election in vain; King Friedrich II appointed the elected district administrator.

In 1778 Caspar Heinrich von Mellenthin asked to leave. He wanted his son Caspar Heinrich Friedrich von Mellenthin to be his successor . Although this was elected by the district estates and at times also led the business of the district administrator, he was not appointed by the king. After the death of Caspar Heinrich von Mellenthin, Sebastian George von Wedel became the new district administrator in 1781 .

Caspar Heinrich von Mellenthin had been married to Sophie Ernestine, born von Borcke , since 1749 . His wife died before him; at his death in 1781 he left five children.
