Mellenthin , also Mellentin , is the name of an old Neumark - Pomeranian noble family . The gentlemen from Mellenthin belong to the ancient nobility in Western Pomerania . Branches of the family still exist today.

history

origin

The family is first mentioned with the knight Hermannus de Mellentin , who appears in a document on June 12, 1250. Mellentin (now Mielęcin in Poland ), the family seat of the same name, is located near Pyritz in the former district of Soldin .

Expansion and possessions

Two tribes were formed, but their genealogical connection has not yet been clarified beyond any doubt. As early as 1337, the Mellentin parent company was owned by the family. In the course of time goods could also be acquired in Neumark and in Silesia .

Joachim von Mellenthin was ducal Pomeranian chancellor in 1461 . At the beginning of the 16th century, Loist near Köselitz and Woltersdorf near Saatzig were family-owned. In the first half of the 18th century a von Mellenthin, royal Swedish cavalry master and land commissioner owned the Zansebur estate in Western Pomerania , and his brother's children owned the Duvendick estate, both of which were old family estates near Franzburg .

A part of the village of Loist was sold by Siegmund von Mellenthin in 1737 to Field Marshal Friedrich Wilhelm von Grumbkow . Other possessions in Pomerania were the goods Gersdorf, Groß-Spiegel, Heide, Springe and Falkenburg Castle in the Dramburg district , Klein Lienichen and shares of Langenhagen in the Saatzig district .

In Silesia , Friederike, widowed majoress von Mellenthin and born von Wenzky , owned Gassendorf in the district of Liegnitz and Nieder-Lobendau in the district of Goldberg in 1857 .
