Caspar Leyser , also Caspar Lyser (* 1628 in Leipzig ; † 17 May 1699 in Wittenberg ), was court court and consistorial advocate, councilor and governing mayor in Wittenberg.

Life

Caspar Leyser came from the family of scholars Leyser and was born in Leipzig as the son of Polykarp Leyser II and Sabina Leyser (* July 11, 1598 in Leipzig; † October 31, 1634 in Leipzig), née Volckmar . His ancestors also include Polkarp Leyser the Elder , Lucas Cranach the Younger and Lucas Cranach the Elder . After studying law , he settled as a lawyer in Wittenberg. As a private teacher , he had a significant influence on Paul Gottfried Sperling . 1665 Caspar Leyser became the doctor of law doctorate . He then became court judge and consistorial advocate and in 1671 councilor. In 1677 Johann Friedrich Spengler ( member of the Pegnesian Flower Order under the religious name Charicles from 1678) wrote a congratulatory poem on the mayoral election of Caspar Leyser and Georg Melchior Thilo, which was published in print in his collection of poems Wittenbergischer Poeten-Steig in 1687. In 1685 Caspar Leyser became the governing mayor of Wittenberg. After his death on May 17, he was buried on May 21, 1699 in the town and parish church of St. Marien zu Wittenberg.

From his marriage to Anna Maria Leyser, née Hettenbach (born June 5, 1625 in Wittenberg; † June 7, 1691), daughter of the lawyer Georg Hettenbach and his wife Maria, née Crüger (married to Wilhelm Nigrinus after the death of Georg Hettenbach ) , as well as the granddaughter of Ernestus Hettenbach , had at least three children, including:

  • Johan Ehrenreich Leyser (born October 29, 1658, † November 21, 1658 in Wittenberg) was only one month old. He was buried on November 24, 1658.
  • Caspar Friedrich Leyser (* 1654: † July 1680) died when he was a jur. Candid. was. He was buried on July 29, 1680. Abraham Calov gave the funeral sermon. Christian Donati and Gottfried Eckardt wrote condolences .
  • Sabina Dorothea Leyser (born May 19, 1654 in Wittenberg; † late May 1702) married Franz Heinrich Höltich on September 2, 1672 in Wittenberg . From this marriage Christiane Elisabeth Höltich (* 1674 in Wittenberg; † December 16 or 17, 1701 in Wittenberg) emerged, who married Johann Georg Neumann in April 1691 . Eight days after the death of Franz Heinrich Höltich, Margaretha Gottlieb, the second daughter, was born, but she died one day later. The widow Sabina Dorothea married Christian Donati on April 7, 1678 . This marriage remained childless. Christiane Elisabeth Höltich and Johann Georg Neumann had a son. As the widow of Donati, Sabina Dorothea donated a male scholarship for the descendants of Johann Georg Neumann and for the descendants of her grandfather Polykarp Leyser II, the Donatsche Scholarship . Donati died on the 13th and was buried on August 17th, 1694 in the town and parish church. Sabina Dorothea had an epitaph built for him there . Christiane Elisabeth died on December 16 or 17, 1701 and was buried on December 26, 1701 in the town and parish church. Her funeral sermon was published in print in 1706. In 1708 a funeral poem was published on her by Christian Hoffmann von Hoffmannswaldau in the anthology of Mr. von Hoffmannswaldau and other Germans of exquisite and previously unprinted poems edited by Benjamin Neukirch , part 4. Sabina Dorothea died at the end of May 1702 and was also in the city on June 1, 1702 - and parish church buried at the altar. The nephew of her and Franz Heinrich's daughter Christiane Elisabeth, Johann Wilhelm Jahn , wrote the funeral sermon.
