Caspar Scheidt
Caspar Scheidt , occasionally Caspar Scheit , (* around 1520 ; † 1565 in Worms ) was a German poet, probably of French origin.
Scheidt came from northern France, probably from Alsace , and worked as a teacher in Worms. There was u. a. his nephew Johann Fischart his pupil.
Scheidt also worked as a translator for Friedrich Dedekind . In 1551 , he translated the Latin Ruffianus into German rhymes and expanded them in a very popular way. With his work Happy Homeward journey in 1553 Scheidt addressed the escape of Anna von Wangenheim and thus set a monument to her and her family. Scheidt worked as court master for the Wachenheim family during these years .
Caspar Scheidt died in Worms in 1565 at the age of about 45.
