Life

He came from the Saxon noble family von Schönberg and was the son of Gotthelf Friedrich von Schönberg (1631–1708) . The chamberlain Gotthelf Friedrich von Schönberg (1681–1745) and owner of the Trebitz, Thammenhayn and Lauterbach estates was his younger brother. Like most of his family members, he embarked on an administrative career at the Wettiner court and was first appointed chamberlain and later chamberlain in Dresden .

Caspar von Schönberg was heir to the Bieberstein manor.

family

He married Magdalena Elisabeth von Pöllnitz, the daughter of Chancellor Ludwig Ernst von Pöllnitz from the Benndorf family, and had two sons and a daughter with her. He left his two sons Moritz Friedrich and Caspar von Schönberg as heirs. The latter was not of age at the time of his father's death because he was born on May 15, 1718 in Bieberstein. Both of them jointly inherited the paternal estates of Ober- and Niederbieberstein, Obergruna, Gelenau, the little towns of Thum and Niederzwönitz in the Saxon Ore Mountains . Like his father, his eldest son became a royal Polish and electoral Saxon chamberlain and took over the Bieberstein estate . Like his father, the youngest son Caspar was also appointed chamberlain at the Wettin court in Dresden.
