Catarina dos Anjos de Almeida Leite Oralová (born January 20, 1983 in Odivelas ) is a Portuguese chess player . She is the only Portuguese chess player who has ever succeeded in being awarded the title of International Women's Champion (WIM). She got this in 2000.

Life

Catarina Leite won seven Portuguese youth championships, in 1992 and 1993 in the age group U10 women, 1994 in the age group U12, 1995 in the age group U12 women, 1996 in the age group U14, 1997 in the age group U14 women and 1998 in the age group U16 women. She won the Portuguese women's individual championship eight times in a row between 1999 and 2006. In 2006 she qualified as the only woman in the country's chess history for the finals of the Portuguese individual championship. In 2012 she won the International Cuca Women's Tournament in Luanda ahead of Alina l'Ami .

With the Portuguese women's national team, she took part in six Chess Olympiads on the first board : 2000 , 2004 , 2006 , 2008 , 2010 and 2012 with a total of 30 points from 64 games (+23 = 14 −27) and at the European team championship in 1999. She played also in various direct country comparisons for Portugal. She used to play club chess in her hometown for GC de Odivelas , later for DG Diana Évora , with whom she won the Portuguese team championship in 2007/08. In 2011 she played for Mata de Benfica , a club from Lisbon .
