Catherine Tasca
Catherine Tasca (born December 13, 1941 in Lyon ) is a French politician . She has represented the Yvelines department in the Senate since 2004 and has been its vice-president since October 2008.
Life
Tasca was born in 1941 as the youngest daughter of Angelo Tascas . Her mother was a city administration clerk. Her father left her in November 1944 to solicit another woman to be Catherine's mother. Tasca graduated from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris in 1963 and received his doctorate in 1967 from the École nationale d'administration .
Career
Tasca initially worked in the field of culture. She began her career under André Malraux at Maisons de la Culture before becoming director of their branch in Grenoble in 1973 . 1977 moved to the national institution for art dissemination. From 1978 to 1982 she was general of the Ensemble intercontemporain of Pierre Boulez ; in the following four years she worked as co-director with Patrice Chéreau at the Théâtre des Amandiers in Nanterre . Then François Mitterrand nominated for the Commission nationale de la communication et des libertés , where she stayed until 1989. From 1993 to 1997 she was a consultant to André Rousselet at Canal + .
Political activity
She was a member of the Parti socialiste unifié before rejoining the Parti socialiste . She is a member of the Le Siècle Club .
In June 1997 she was elected to the National Assembly for the 11th constituency of the Yvelines department. Her deputy was Guy Malandain , the mayor of Trappes . From 2000 to 2002 she was Minister for Culture and Communication in the Jospin cabinet .
