Catoplatus fabricii is a bug from the family of net bugs (Tingidae).
features
The bugs are 3.7 to 4.5 millimeters long. The front edge of the pronotum is almost straight, the side edges are slightly curved inwards, especially just behind the head. The third part of the antennae is as thick as the fourth. Most animals have fully developed (macroptere) wings.
distribution and habitat
The species is distributed in Europe to the south of the British Isles and in Scandinavia to around the 63rd parallel and east to the south of Russia and the Caucasus. It is widespread in Central Europe and is only absent in the northern German lowlands. It is more common in places in the south, otherwise it is rather rare. In the Alps, it rises to around 1700 meters above sea level. In Great Britain , it is mainly found in the south of England and Wales . Dry, warm, open habitats are settled, preferably with limestone soils. They are only rarely found on sandy and loamy soils or on ruderal areas.
Way of life
In Central Europe, the animals live on marginal meadow marguerite ( Leucanthemum vulgare ), otherwise they are also found on other daisy family (Asteraceae). They can be found on the ground under the basal leaves or on the plants. They develop in the same way as Catoplatus carthusianus : mating and oviposition take place in May, the adult animals of the new generation appear in July or August. Only one generation is trained each year.
