The Catubig ( eng .: Catubig River ) is a river in the Northern Samar Province in the Philippines . It rises in the central mountains of the island of Samar , at an altitude of approx. 800 meters on Mount Capotoan. The river flows in the municipality of Laoang with a delta into the Philippine Sea , through which the island of Laoang is separated from the main island of Samar. The Catubig has a length of 54 km and a water catchment area of 836 km², which includes the municipalities of Catubig and Las Navas , among others .

In the mouth region, a 444-hectare is mangrove , of the nipa palm ( Nypa frulicans is penetrated). Agricultural land for rice cultivation comprises 15,604 hectares (ha) and 10,994 hectares comprise coconut plantations . The other land use in the Catubig catchment area is described as follows: 1,118 ha of grass, 4,694 ha of bush forest , 5,022 ha of secondary and 43,254 ha of primary forest . The pH of the river's water ranges from 6.3 to 8.0.

The region in which the river lies has a tropical and humid climate without dry spells. The heaviest rainfall falls from November to January.
